After we finish the roofs,
we start the work inside!
First, we sell the majority of the pews and donate the cushions.
We'll keep a couple of the pews for additional seating along the walls of the remodeled Sanctuary. We'll also keep the pews that are already in the Upper Room. The pews in the lower part of the balcony will remain for now. We will use some of the oak from the pews for the window frames between the Sanctury and expanded Narthex. Several pews were sold to folks looking for a bench, but most were sold to woodworkers for the oak. We used several of the pews for the oak frames around the windows and doors, and for the caps for the short walls at the new Stage area.
The pew cushions were donated to Edison Lutheran Church, in Edison, WA, which they truely appreciate!!
Then, we take the chancel apart. The walls that were around the pulpit and the choir loft come down and open up the area.
Todd and Michael dismantle part of the chancel, the wall in front of the organ console, while Gordon, Don & Emily work on part of the pulpit.

Alan and Terry disassemble the pews that were in the choir loft. The oak from the pews will be used to make the window frames in the wall between the Sanctuary and the new expanded Narthex.
The chancel area is cleared out and the choir loft cleared, also. The area will be leveled off at the level where the cabinet is seen above (except for the 2 steps in the former choir loft, which will be left "as is").
Gordon and Don put their backs into ripping up the carpet, getting ready for the abatement process, where a professional company came in to remove the tiles and the toxic adhesive under it.
Colin, Sarah Ruth and Emily tear out the middle aisle carpet while Terry catches his breath.
All the while, Cathy, Colin & Emily are moving the Lounge funiture and Carolyn is moving the hymnals to the Upper Room. We get to move it all back in 2 months!
