More Construction Action:
But first, we better check the drawings during the weekly Contractors Meeting. Todd (Building Committee Chair) and Paul (Crest NW) review one of the drawings while Pastor Wes looks on. It was tremendous to have Todd lead us with his construction background. Thanks, Todd!
Here's the balcony before its alterations into the new Sound Booth. The balcony hasn't been used for some time, and will be more of a workspace now. A large conduit has been installed from the Organ's pipes in the Sanctuary to the balcony so we can move the organ pipes in the future and run the cable from the console to the pipes with little problem (see below).
And we did protect the organ pipes. Very little construction dust was found in the pipes area! And they sounded great once Christopher (our Minister of Music) had a chance to play them again!
This is the reinforced base for the footing that was installed for the west wall that supported that end of the beam supporting the arch that we cut the foot out of....(see earlier pictures).
Here's the large conduit going up the south balcony stairway that was installed for running the umbilical cable from the organ console (at the east end of the Sanctuary) to the relocated pipes up to the balcony at a future time (at the west end of the balcony). The $20,000 for relocating the pipes just wasn't in the budget.
